Page templates
Save a finished Tessolo page as a page template and start new pages from it on any site in the workspace — and what can't come across.
You built a campaign page you're happy with. Next month there's another campaign, on another site. Page templates let you save the first one and start the second from it.
The library belongs to the workspace, so every site in it can use the same templates.
Saving a page
In the editor's Pages tab, open a page's ··· menu and pick Save as template…. Give it a name — Campaign landing page beats copy 3.
It saves a copy. Editing the original page later won't change the template, and using the template on another site won't change the original. That's usually what people expect, but it's worth saying out loud: there's no live link between them.
Only ordinary pages can be saved. Header, footer, the 404 page and detail templates can't — each site has at most one of those, so a library of them wouldn't mean anything.
Using one
When you create a page, switch to the My templates tab and pick it. Each one shows its name, when it was saved, and a wireframe of its layout.
The page is created with everything in it — sections, copy, images, theme-aware colours. Edit it like any other page afterwards.
What can't always come across
A page isn't as self-contained as it looks. Three things belong to the site it came from:
| In the page | On another site |
|---|---|
| A collection list | Matched by the collection's identifier. No matching collection → the list is disconnected |
| A button pointing at another page | Matched by that page's address. No page at that address → the link is cleared |
| A reusable component | Expanded into ordinary blocks when you save, so it always arrives |
Tessolo tells you when something didn't match, right after the page is created, naming what and how many. It never quietly leaves a blank: an empty list and a button that goes nowhere both look completely normal on the canvas, and you'd only find out after publishing.
Cleared buttons also show up in the pre-publish check, so there's a second net.
If the template's buttons pointed at other pages of the same design — a landing page linking to its own sign-up section — Tessolo turns those into in-page jumps rather than clearing them, so a one-page template still works on its own.
To make a template land cleanly on a new site, give the new site's collection the same identifier as the old one before you use the template. See creating a collection.
Managing the library
Rename a template from its ··· menu. Deleting one needs the Admin role, since the library is shared by the whole workspace — deleting removes it for everyone. Pages already created from it are unaffected.
A workspace can hold 30 templates. If that's not enough, it's usually a sign a few of them are near-duplicates.
