The AI assistant

Ask for changes in plain language. It reads the page first, shows every step, and everything is undoable.

The AI tab in the left panel is a conversation. You describe what you want in plain language; it looks at the page — and at your collections, media and colours — and then makes the change. Every step it takes is listed, and ⌘Z puts anything back.

Before you start

  • The assistant only touches the site you have open, and only within the permissions you already have. If you are a viewer in this workspace, it will advise but never edit.
  • Failed runs don't cost you any of your monthly AI allowance.
  • It never publishes without asking.

Asking for a change

Type what you want and press Enter. Useful things to say:

You sayWhat it does
"Make the hero headline shorter and punchier"Reads the page, rewrites that one line
"Add a testimonials section after the features"Picks a ready-made section template and drops it in
"This page needs a pricing table"Finds the right block, checks how it works, builds it
"Show my products here"Looks up your collections, wires the list to the right one
"Check the site over — is it ready?"Runs the pre-publish check and walks you through what it found

Be specific about where. "Make the third section shorter" beats "make it shorter". Better still — select the section on the canvas first (see below).

Asking for a whole page

Say what the business is — "build me a home page for a mountain guesthouse, six rooms, a courtyard and a pool" — and it builds the page in one go rather than stacking sections one at a time.

Two things happen before it writes anything:

  • It picks a colour scheme to match. Warm sand and ochre with a rounded serif for a café or a guesthouse; a dark canvas with electric purple for a tech product. This changes the whole site, not just the page, so if you have already settled on a look, say so ("keep the current colours") and it will leave the theme alone.
  • It pulls photos from the picture library rather than grey placeholders. The library covers food and drink, stays, retail, offices, spaces, wellness, weddings and portraits. For something it has no photos of — a particular piece of equipment, a screenshot of your own product — you will get placeholders, and swapping those for your own images is the first thing worth doing afterwards.

Everything it does is one undo away. A whole-page build collapses into a single step, so ⌘Z puts the page back exactly as it was.

Asking about one specific block

Click anything on the canvas and a ✨ appears at the top-right of the selection box. Click it — or press ⌥A — and the conversation opens with that block already in scope.

A line above the input says exactly what it will change: Only this block · "Testimonials". Tap it to switch to the whole page instead.

This is the fastest way to work: you're already pointing at the thing you want changed, so you don't have to describe it.

Watching what it does

Each step shows as one line in plain words — Looked at the blocks on this page, Looked up how "Timeline" works, Cut the testimonials down to three. Click a line to see the raw details if you want them.

When it changes the page, a line underneath says how many things it changed, with an Undo next to it. That undo is the same one as ⌘Z — the assistant's edits go through exactly the same path as your own, so they're in the same history.

Advice only

⋯ → Advice only turns off every editing tool. The assistant still reads your page and answers questions, but it cannot change anything. Use it when you want a second opinion before committing to a direction.

The setting sticks until you turn it off again — while it's on, a line above the input says so, and the assistant will tell you what it would do instead of doing it.

Publishing

If you ask it to publish, it runs the pre-publish check first and then shows you a card with Go ahead / Not now. Nothing goes live until you pick one.

What it can't do

  • It can't undo your publish. Rolling back to an earlier version is done from the site's Versions panel.
  • It won't invent facts. Prices, dates, contact details, customer names — if you haven't given it those, it will ask rather than make something up.
  • It doesn't touch your header and footer from the page conversation. Those are site-wide; open them from the Pages tab to edit them.
  • In translation mode it only advises. Switch back to your default language to change structure.

Troubleshooting

It changed something I didn't ask about. Select the block first and use ✨ / ⌥A — the scope line will say Only this block. Then ⌘Z to undo the run you didn't want.

It says it changed something but the page looks the same. Check the breakpoint you're viewing: a change made for desktop won't show if you're looking at the mobile canvas. The step lines say which block was touched — click it in the Layers tab to jump to it.

It keeps asking questions instead of doing the work. That's usually missing facts — a price, a date, a name. Give it those in one message and it will carry on.

The run stopped partway. Press Try again. Nothing it already did is lost, and the failed run wasn't charged against your allowance.
