A glossary of every Tessolo product term, from alt text and blocks to collections, detail pages, presets, themes and workspaces, A to Z.
A–C
Alt text — A short description of an image, for people using screen readers and for search engines. More
Block — One piece of a page: a heading, an image, a whole section band. Pages are built by stacking and nesting blocks. More
Box — A block that puts a background, border, corner radius or shadow around its contents. What a card is made of. More
Breakpoint — Desktop, tablet or phone. Which one you're editing decides who your changes affect. More
Canonical URL — Tells search engines which address to treat as the real one when the same content sits at two. Usually left alone. More
Collection — A table of repeating content: products, articles, team members. Fields are the columns, entries are the rows. More
Collection list — The block that displays entries from a collection on a page. More
Component — A piece of design you reuse. Edit it once and every copy updates. More

Detail page template — One page design that serves every entry in a collection, each at its own address. More
Display mapping — Which field is the title, the image, the price. Set once per collection. More
Draft — Your unpublished work. Everything you edit is a draft until you publish.
Entry — One row in a collection: one product, one article. More
Field — One column in a collection. Also the name of the block that displays a field on a page. More
Footer — The bar at the bottom of every page. Edited once, appears everywhere.
Hotspot — A clickable region drawn on an image, with its own link. More More

Instance — One copy of a component on a page. Follows the component, can override its text and images. More
Media library — Every image, video, file and font you've uploaded, shared across the site. More
Page — One address inside a site. More
Page template — A finished page saved to the workspace so any site can start from a copy of it. More
Path — The part of the address after your domain: /about.
More
Preset — A ready-made section you drag in and then edit. Unlike a component, each copy is independent. More
Publish — Take a snapshot of your drafts and put it on the live site. Nothing is visible to visitors until you do. More
R–Z
Redirect — Sends an old address to a new one so old links keep working. More
Scheme — A ready-made set of colours and fonts. A starting point for a theme. More
Section — A horizontal band of a page. Everything else goes inside one. More
Site — One public address with its own pages, design and content.
Site address — The short name your free address is built from. More
Slug — The last part of an entry's detail page address, as in /products/aurora-pro.
Survey — A form built from choice and rating questions, with results summarised for you. More Sometimes called the URL slug. More
Template — The set of pages and content a new site starts from. A single saved page is a page template, which is a different thing. More
Theme — Colours, fonts, corner radius and spacing for a whole site. More
Top navigation — The bar at the top of every page. Also called the header. More
Workspace — Holds your sites and the people who work on them. Billing and members belong to it. More
